April 14th Cut flowers

Aloha World,

Before I moved to Hawaii, I lived in Washington, DC., for the most part of 40 years. One of my former occupations was as a florist. I used to LOVE using tropical, "exotic" flowers in my arrangements. The main draw back was that they COST so much. One large philodendron leaf was like 15 dollars and a hanging Heliconia was 20 to 35 dollars a STEM, and orchids were just as insanely priced, the basic Dendrobium, starting at 35 a plant, that is, with one SO SO spike that almost always dropped half its buds.

Anyway, I now have several Heliconia's and the hanging one, which I got for free, now has around 35 flowers on it, and the orange and the red Lobster claws are equally abundant. I now have wonderful arrangements in my home, as well as many flowering orchid plants.

I love my new home it is always filled with flowers and it doesn't cost me anything but time in the garden.

April 12, HAPPY EASTER

It has been a busy weekend. On Saturday Tom and I went to a friends condo who was nice enough to let us use his place to discuss what we are going to do, to get people elected and bills passed and/or the opposition crippled. When that was all done, Tom and I invited a friend of ours to come, and look at a rental house in Ka'aava on the North shore. Turns out to be really wonderful SO it seems that we are going to take it. Great ocean views and 3 bedrooms and the whole place is BRAND NEW. Today, we went looking at area rugs for the living room and bed room so that our furniture does not scratch the bamboo floor. It is going to be interesting to see how I move my garden.

April 9th The Day After

Yesterday I celebrated 7 years of sobriety. There is much that I could say about that, but I am not going to at this point, it has been as hard a journey as it has been easy one.

I spent yesterday in Honolulu at the Senate in the morning, and at my old college in the afternoon. In the evening, Tom and I headed into Waikiki, where I got my 7 year Chip and then we had dinner with a friend, it was a very nice day.

Today I woke up with a cold, and I am cleaning the house up, after the bird mostly . Lots of hidden and dropped food on the floor around his cage, and enough feathers to make several festive hats. The Good part is that it is a cloudy day and I don't feel like I am missing a good beach day by staying inside all day.

I need more regular massage clients or a good part time job .

April 7th A Day In Town

When ever I start to get ready in the morning to go into town, my bird gets testy as he is beginning to see that means, that he is going to be spending the day in the cage.

I spent time this morning listening to the AARP at the state capitol and tried to see my senator about some land preservation topics, to no avail . But I will keep trying.

Had a great massage at noon and showed my support for civil unions by sign waving , it is kind of fun.

Jack Warangler passed away today, this is a sad thing for me, he was my favorite fantasy when I was growing up, next to Bruno. WOOF

April 6th, One More Try

Aloha everyone.

It seems that we here in the state of Hawaii are going to try once again to pass Civil unions.

Let us hope that the senators grow a spine and vote for Civil Rights for all and not give in to the ridiculous superstitions of religion.

All in time

April 5th A Day In The Garden

It was a perfect day for playing in the garden. It is what keeps me sane .

It seems that the Christian Ministries donated at least 50K to defeat the Hawai'i Civil Union bill. I just do not understand how this is possible. This is Tax free dollars that are being spent on politics, I thought that was illegal. Does anyone have any ideas how to stop these illegal activities? Are there any good lawyers that can look into this?

Saturday April 4th

Aloha Everyone,
WOW what a day! The group that Tom and I started now has a name, Unite Hawaii, and we have begun to look into the opposition. This is going to be both a learning experience and fun at the same time . Thank you everyone that was and is involved, We are going to do GREAT things together.

Tom and I went to a party this afternoon and got to know some very interesting people. I think that after almost 7 years of sobriety that I am beginning to lighten up a bit.

And a big Mahalo to my friend Laurie for the wonderful Lei.

April Third My Birthday

Aloha kids, this is a picture of my when I was a bit younger. I am the one in the middle, the Short one and the Lady was my fathers wife before he married my Mother and the taller kid on the right is my older brother, who we will not discus at this point in time. ANYWAY it was a long time ago but I still remember that raincoat and how it always tasted like rubber, (not the fun kind), The room that we are in was the dinning Room and it was Yellow. To this day I do not like yellow rooms or rubber rain coats. Not sure why I am thinking about this today , But here we are.

Today I am 44 A nice age to be, I have had many friends wish me well and I thank them for all their love and support over the years, My life has been and still is an interesting ride. I hope the the ride goes on for at least another 100 years .

I am a optimist. I want to live long enough for us to have a permanent living place on the moon.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Well it seems that Lono, the god of fertility and rain is seeing to it that I don't work too hard on my gardens as it seems to rain after a few hours into weed pulling. However he is keeping my grass nice and green.

I got my Banana patch weeded out and the little blighter's fed for the next 2 months and most of my orchids fed for the month.

It seems that the Westboro Baptist church is going to be picketing my old High School, it seems that since it was named after one of Americas greatest writers that is a bad thing, I think that they said that Walt Whitman was a "filthy Faggot", I think that they will see how much my Old HS thinks about that.

GO GET EM KIDS!!!

April Fools Day, My First Posting, Irony? or Fate?

ALOHA! So many things to say and now my mind is a blank.

Lets get to know each other I am a middle aged naturist, Alcoholic (in recovery for a few 24 hours), Amateur gardener and your basic all around cynical happy guy who currently resides in a beach house on the North Shore of Oahu Hawaii.

Any Questions? I have MANY.

As someone who has been in a few places in his life I can't seem to understand all the hate in the world and on this island.

LIKE, when people say stupid things and get them printed in local papers.

For instance.
If Civil unions pass, people will marry their dogs.

Is this FOR REAL where did that person go to school? SOMEONE must have told this poor person that equal rights was about bestiality. What is more disturbing is that the Mid-Week ACTUALLY PRINTED IT.

Well back to the garden and the beach.
